The video installation "Untitled" (2008) starts with the image of a flag blowing in the wind against a bleak, winter sky and ends in the total digital disintegration of the captured image. Punctuated by jump cuts and flashes that begin the impending process of rupture with illusion, the projection simulates an undulating, flag-like motion on what appears to be the 2-dimensional projection surface, only to further dissimulate the illusion of "real", "live" film footage by ultimate digital breakdown. A pitch-black background is revealed and the viewer is left to debate on the question of reception, illusion, perception and digital simulation.

The various forms of motion translated in the projection echo the movement of the flag in the wind, a motif traditionally known for its symbolisms of grandeur and decay, of hope and the lack of it. Revealing what is on the other side of the projection thus represents a break with illusion on a number of levels. But as the image rolls up and is broken down into countless polygons a new, digital aesthetic is unraveled, revealing a visual language on the verge of the technically possible that is apt to represent the real and to construct new forms of perception. In the end it is all about this interplay between modes of perceptual representation and the boundaries between man and the tangible space that surrounds him.
